Former NCIS Star Pauley Perrette Opens Up About Leaving Acting for Good

In a rare and heartfelt interview, former NCIS actress Pauley Perrette has shared why she has permanently stepped away from the world of acting.

Best known for her beloved role as forensic scientist Abby Sciuto on the hit crime series NCIS, Perrette became a fan favorite thanks to her unique style and vibrant energy. However, after leaving the show in 2018, the actress has stayed largely out of the spotlight—until now.

Speaking openly, Perrette revealed that her decision to quit acting was deeply personal. “I’ve found peace in living a life that’s completely authentic,” she said. “Acting once helped me escape certain realities, but now it feels like it keeps me from being fully myself.”

Perrette also touched on her past experiences on set, hinting that certain negative moments played a role in her decision. After departing NCIS, she briefly starred in the sitcom Broke, which was canceled after one season. Not long after, she announced her retirement from acting in 2020.

Today, Pauley says she’s finally in a place where she feels happy and free. “I don’t need scripts or cameras to feel fulfilled anymore,” she explained. “This is the real me—and I love it.”

Since then, she has been involved in creative projects behind the scenes, including producing documentaries like Studio One Forever, a film celebrating a legendary Los Angeles nightclub.
